"It's a market we live under," says Matt Jones, global head of Goldman Sachs Bank at St. Louis, Mo.
"The government has no choice but to take a risk. We are in this for the long haul. It's not a long haul."
As the crisis moves into the coming months, the bank notes, the global financial market is in full swing.
"The price of bond yields has jumped by 0.6% so far this year. The rest of the world has been watching and watching what the future has in store for its bonds," says Jones.
More broadly, the central bank and the U.S. economy are all under threat from low oil prices given they provide further liquidity through higher interest rates and greater exports in the wake of the China devaluation and falling growth rates.
The Fed's announcement that it might be relaxing the Fed's monetary policy announcement in February has generated much public talk about a possible relaxation. In a statement, the Fed said:
There is nothing in the final decisions about US policy to trigger the temporary freeze on bond lending. We believe the Fed expects to see the price of a U.S.-grown broad-based bond yield rise to within 5-6% until the current policy environment is balanced and market conditions continue to maintain a healthy level. We are hopeful that the next monetary policy announcement will address this potential issue and our policy objectives.
So far, the central bank has not ruled out a reduction in the rate on U.S. Treasury bonds which may be a good thing for bond prices heading into 2018.
However, the price of gold, silver and stocks are all at the end of the year being used as collateral to cover the US central bank's interest rates, as part of a broader strategy which is expected to focus on strengthening the overall economy more slowly.
How much longer can we keep up this lefty bullsh*t we need to stay strong to our values.
This is exactly what conservatives always says
I can’t agree more, as my brother went on to become a volunteer in Syria, fighting alongside Syrian moderate opposition versus Assad – and died. All because US did not stop Assad in 2011-2012.
