Rise from the Ashes is a solo expansion for Witcher 3, available from December 19th until March 15th, 2017. Like with prior expansions, the expansion features "time-related" content like the following:
Sneak into the town of Wyvern, a rural town inhabited solely by Wyrmstooth, and discover the vast majority of Wylisius.
A place where only the inhabitants of Wylisius understand the lore of the world.
A quest that will open up doors open on Wylisius to explore the world, complete quests that are part of the quest, or obtain items for free.
Rise from the Ashes includes a new co-operative game mode that allows players to play only with one other player. Each player can control up to six individuals at once, and may bring up to six separate characters on screen. Players can freely take turns with one other player as well. This mode was added to the game in the form of the Wylisius Rift system option.
Rise from the Ashes is released in North America on a "limited edition" basis starting on November 19th, 2017. All proceeds from Rise from the Ashes will go directly to Wylisius Research.

What players can expect:
The first half of the game will come packed with quests that players will have to undertake each battle using only one weapon. Each fight consists of the following:
3 difficulty settings:
Warcry-based strategy: there are three modes each, and the first difficulty mode has the strongest focus on the first battle.
Tribute or kill the Wretch with a single strike.
Hunt to acquire the last piece of equipment.
Explore the vast and treacherous ruins that lie ahead of Wylisius. If wyverns, other monsters or undead are present, players will be unable to complete the campaign.
Explore and solve puzzles, puzzles that require no experience.
Survive, overcome, solve and defeat the Wretch's enemy.
Use equipment obtained from other areas, including weapon and armor.
Explore and kill Wretch's opponents.
If a player has any items or special abilities available, they can choose
